Action |
Why? |
Note |
| FILTER |
MUST run 6-8 hours. |
To ensure clarity and cleanliness of water at all times. |
Be sure to service (replace) the filter sand at least every 2 years to ensure effective filtering of water. |
| BACKWASH |
MUST be done weekly regardless of the size of your pool. Backwash for 2 mins. |
Cleans and expels all dirt, trapped debris, dust etc. from filter maintaining clean, clear quality of water. |
Ensure that you BACKWASH for a sufficient period - use the visible glass tube on the pump valve selector to check the clarity of water before ending BACKWASH cycle. |
| RINSE |
MUST be done after each Backwash to ensure that sand in pipes is not circulated back into the swimming pool. Rinse for 20 seconds. |
Skims and expels further dirt, trapped debris, dust, etc. from filter maintaining clean, clear quality of water. |
Ensure that you RINSE for a sufficient period - use the visible glass tube on the pump valve selector to check the clarity of water before ending RINSE cycle. |
| WASTE |
MUST be used when vacuuming debris off the bottom of the pool. |
To ensure that debris is expelled from the entire system and not put back into circulation. |
It is best to use a vacuum plate that attaches to the net pole, as this does not disturb debris like an automatic pool cleaner does. |
CATCHMENT BASKET |
MUST be emptied weekly to ensure that water flows from filter into pump into pool easily. Any blockage will limit the efficacy of the filter / pump action. |
To ensure that chlorophuyll from leaves trapped in the basket is not introduced back into water. This will limit the possibility of water turning green (but still clear). |
|
FILTER SAND |
MUST be serviced / changed at least every 2 years. |
To prevent sand from compacting in the filter and thereby not effectively trapping solids and debris from circulating back into the swimming pool. |
|
AUTOMATIC POOL CLEANER |
MUST be unplugged when BACKWASHING, RINSING. |
To ensure that sufficient water is introduced into the pipe system and no strain is put on the pump / motor. |
When pump is set on FILTER, leave automatic pool cleaner connected to ensure that all debris is collected and passed through the pump basket and filter where it is trapped. |
MANUAL VACUUMING |
BLU52 contains a flocculent to improve filtration. Will attach itself to algae and unwanted debris and sink to the bottom of the pool, making vacuuming easier. |
The impurities will be lying at the bottom of your pool and using your automatic pool cleaner will agitate all the impurities, which will then float back up into the water. |
Ensure that you leave pump on WASTE to expel debris, etc, from filtration system. |
MAINTANENCE DURING WINTER |
Maintain your pool throughout the winter season. |
To ensure that your pool is kept healthy and balanced. Keeping your pool well maintained will prevent problems occurring when the summer season starts. |
